28 July 2008 Pell Street.




20 July 2008 Hip Sing Tong. What began as a protection alliance for Chinese workers against racists in the 1800s, later grew into a major criminal organization extorting money from those it protected. Hip Sing firmly held Pell and Doyers Streets in its many battles with other tongs.




21 Feb 2002 The First Chinese Baptist Church, 27 Pell Street.




02 March 2002 Steaming "jung", a savory triangle-shaped dish made of sticky rice, and filling wrapped in bamboo leaves. May May Gourmet Bakery, 35 Pell Street. This place has since closed.




18 Pell Street, Sun Wah Barber Shop. Over a half-dozen barbershops and hair salons line the corner of Pell and Doyers Streets, sometimes known as hair alley.
